Hello, I am Mrs. McLean. I love mathematics and I want you to love Mathematics too. I try to be as available as possible to students and to parents. The best way to get me is Dojo. I know how it feels to be a parent and how it feels working hard to get our students through the school year. I have four children who all attended Milbrook and moved on to greater things, through the support that was initiated here. I hope to provide you with the same love and support my students received
Purpose of Education/ What Good Teaching Involves
The classroom assists students with developing skills that uplifts them, gives them self worth, expands their minds, and helps them find their place and purpose in the world.
The classroom is a place of learning that fosters positive teaching, which broadens minds, stimulates students socially and emotionally, develops students’ empathic nature, and inspires them to be positive contributors to society.
The Effective Teacher and Her Role
Teachers are collaborative leaders who partner with parents, the school, and the community, to educate and to guide children.
Effective teachers propel students to their next level of care and knowledge while allowing them to uniquely develop according to each of their strengths and weaknesses.
Personal View on Discipline
Through a blend of the “assertive discipline”
(Manning and Bucher, 2003), “positive classroom management” (Manning and
Bucher, 2003), and “beyond discipline” (Manning and Bucher, 2003) management
theories, I will create a classroom where virtuous language and teacher
initiated discipline is stressed, while I model positive interpersonal interaction
and provide opportunities for students to make choices on personal behavior.
Students need this
extrinsic motivation, until the ability to be intrinsically motivated develops.
